Prioritising Staff Wellbeing: Berkshire Vision Marks Mental Health Awareness Week

At Berkshire Vision, we understand that the vital work our team does supporting individuals with sight loss can only be sustained by also caring for our own wellbeing. That’s why, during Mental Health Awareness Week 2025, we are putting a spotlight on the importance of mental health among our staff.

This year’s theme is “Community”, and we’re encouraging everyone to take a pause, breathe, and reconnect with themselves and one another.

We’ve planned a range of simple but meaningful activities to help our staff prioritise their mental health and build positive habits:

  • Pause for a Brew: Every lunchtime this week, we’re inviting staff to take a moment away from their desks to enjoy a hot drink, have a chat, or simply pause in a quiet space. Sometimes, just five minutes of downtime can be the reset we all need.
  • Sweet Support Jars: Our sweet jars are dotted around the office, each filled with a little treat and a positive message. It’s a small gesture designed to uplift and remind everyone that they are appreciated.
  • Guided Mindfulness Session: Midweek, we’ll host a guided mindfulness session for staff. A a chance to relax, refocus, and reset.

These activities are more than just feel-good moments, they’re a reflection of our ongoing commitment to a culture of care and support within our organisation.

Lidia, our Office and HR Manager, who is also a trained Mental Health First Aider, shares:

“Mental health isn’t something we should only think about during awareness weeks, it’s something that impacts us every day. By creating space for staff to pause, connect, and be kind to themselves, we’re building a healthier and more resilient team.”

At Berkshire Vision, we believe that supporting mental wellbeing is just as important as professional development or physical health. We are proud to build a workplace where looking after yourself is not only accepted, but encouraged.
