Reading Association for the Blind (RAB) is to become part of Berkshire Vision, in a move that will enhance support for visually impaired individuals in Reading.
With an expected increase of 700 new sight loss cases in Reading over the next decade, the merger will help to meet the escalating demand for sight loss support services in Reading and Berkshire.
RAB, based out of Walford Hall in Carey Street since 1969, has been providing vital services to approximately 200 blind and visually impaired individuals annually. Â The merger with much larger Reading based charity, Berkshire Vision will create a single, unified sight loss charity which will be able to reach the estimated 4000 individuals in Reading currently living with sight loss.
Laura Mitchell, CEO of Berkshire Vision, welcomed the merger, saying, “This merger represents a significant step forward in our mission to provide the best possible support and services to individuals living with sight loss.
