Realeyes
Guiding you to new possibilities.
Would you like to be more independent but need a little help to get out and about on your own?
Our Realeyes volunteer guides can help you to practise a route, with the goal being that you can then do this on your own. This could be getting the bus, train or going to the local shop.
Your Realeyes volunteer guide will help you to learn the route and key information along the way which will help you build your confidence. A clear plan will be set so that you know what you are working towards and your guide will be certified as a level one guide so you can be confident they will be able to assist you.
Please read the below to check you meet the criteria to be matched with a Realeyes volunteer guide.
Criteria –
The Realeyes volunteer guide is there to help you achieve your goal and show “You can do it”.
Realeyes users should:-
- Be a member of Berkshire Vision (membership is free).
- Have a short term aim they would like to achieve e.g. to get to the train station independently. Each aim will be reviewed after 6 visits.
- Is mobile to the extent that ultimately, they can physically achieve this aim independently. (We cannot assist anyone who has had 2 or more falls within the preceding 12 months, through this programme).
- Has capacity to make and keep arrangements with the volunteer.
- Understands that the volunteer will not be using their car for the purpose of the journey together.
Realeyes is not a befriending service but is about confidence building to enable you to get out independently.
This criteria is not exhaustive and each individual case will be assessed by Berkshire Vision.
